Champions Are Readers (CAR) is Pi Beta Phi's national program for children's literacy. Every Friday a group of Pi Phis visit a local elementary school where we read to students and then develop their critical reading skills. We have grown quite close with the students, serving not only as teachers, but also as mentors. Pi Beta Phi members at USC also volunteer throughout the year at the "The Lupus Foundation of America Walk," Ronald McDonald House, hold Speed Reads for elementary school children, and participate in the organization Nike Human Race, as well as many other philanthropies.
